Myrl was born and raised in Winnipeg, Manitoba. She has lived in Alberta for over three decades and calls Edmonton home.
Myrl holds a PhD from the University of Alberta, where she taught English and writing for eight years. Prior to her teaching years, Myrl was a grocery store cashier, a bank clerk, an x-ray technician, a sales representative, a small business owner, a marketing consultant, and a stills photographer in the Alberta film industry.
In 1995, Myrl's short screenplay Willpower won a drama prize awarded by the National Screen Institute. In 2009, her poem "The Front Porch" won a prize from The Ontario Poetry Society. (To read "The Front Porch," see the "Selected Writing" section on this website.
Myrl is currently working on an episodic novel and a collection of poetry.
